Hidden Spring Designs encompasses the collaborative and individual work of husband and wife team Rob Matthews and Leslie Guinan.
Rob has been a working stained glass artist for 50 years. 25 years ago he started incorporating glass into works of concrete using a casting method that he developed himselfHe has created furniture, sculpture both large and small, public art and primarily work for the wall. With a slight education in architecture his themes do have a heavy architectural bent to them but considers his work contemporary abstract.
Leslie is formally trained as a furniture maker. She began woodworking as a creative outlet while working as an environmental lawyer, and spent a year at the College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking Program.
Their collaborative partnership began with furniture and evolved to include work for the wall and sculpture.
Rob's current body of work focuses on wall sculpture cast with light weight concrete.
Leslie's current body of work is mixed media encaustic painting on panel.
